It's wise to have a screen protector, and they days, an anti-microbial option is ideal. The folks at Zagg, under their InvisibleShield brand, sent me a review unit of the Glass Elite Screen Protectors (starting at $39.99). They actually have several screen protector options, depending on your needs, including Anti-Glare, Privacy, VisionGuard (Blue Light Filter) and, as mentioned, Anti-Microbial, all with tempered glass for shatter and scratch protection.
The Glass Elite Screen Protectors are on the high end, but I've used cheaper screen protectors and they don't apply easily, so I've wasted quite a few trying to get a good fit, or they peel off quickly. These went on easily and with no bubbles, thanks to the included frame. They are edge-to-edge design, with a black border around the edge, and still accommodate most cases with a raised edge. The Anti-Microbial versions reportedly kill up to 99.99% of surface germs for the entire life of the product.
