Review: SkyB Apple Watch Cases Aim to Up Your Watch's Style Factor

Review: SkyB Apple Watch Cases Aim to Up Your Watch's Style Factor

My family of four currently has three Apple Watches, and that could grow to four. It becomes increasingly important to be able to identify which watch belongs to whom. There are plenty of junky plastic Apple Watch cases out there, so I was skeptical when I saw the Apple Watch Cases (starting at $49) from SkyB at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. SkyB let me try a review unit with one of my Apple Watches and holding it made all the difference.

The SkyB Apple Watch cases are made of substantive metal, yet they don't have so much heft as to make the watch uncomfortable to wear. But these are not cheap plastic cases. They have a layer of silicon between the watch and case to ensure a scratch-free fit. The cases are sold in a variety of attractive styles, with various levels of crystals and assorted colors and available for all of the different size Apple Watches. Just make sure you order the right size case for your Apple Watch.

There are openings to make the Digital Crown and side button accessible, although the side button is slightly recessed. It was easy to put on and off, thanks to Apple's innovative watch band mechanism, yet it was also secure and won't come off without removing the band. While they start at $49, they go up to $109 for some of the more decorative models.

Pros

  • Substantive metal without too much heft
  • Silicon gasket for a scratch-free fit
  • Variety of attractive styles and colors
  • Openings for Digital Crown and side button
  • Easy on and off yet secure

Cons

  • Pricey for some of the more decorative models
  • Need to order the right case for your Apple Watch
  • Side button is somewhat recessed

Final Verdict

The Apple Watch Cases from SkyB can help you accessorize your Apple Watch for a unique look.
