There are a bunch of Bluetooth trackers out there to help you find your purse, or backpack, or keys; but the folks at Breadcrumb have found an underserved niche: outdoor enthusiasts. If you want to find your favorite hunting spot or you're a hiker looking for your base camp, you might want to check out their Bluetooth Location Marker ($39.99). Breadcrumb sent me the marker to try. It has a lot of unique features.

Unlike most Bluetooth trackers that are disposable or use obscure batteries, the Breadcrumb uses two replaceable AAA batteries (not included.) Just be careful to keep the rubber gasket in place as it can pop out. But that makes it weather resistant, which is important for outdoor use. The makers designed it to find your hunting spot, and even use that phrase in the app when setting it up, but it can be used for more than hunting. I could see scouting leaders using it to get back to their camp site. The marker has two slots so you can thread a backpack strap through it. When you want to find your marker, you use the app to have the marker play an alert sound and flash its lights.
Pros
- Specifically designed for outdoor use
- Water resistant with gasket
- Lights up and plays alert
- Long distance support, up to 150 feet
- Attaches to straps
Cons
- Gasket is removable
Final Verdict
The Bluetooth Location Marker from Breadcrumb is a purpose-built tracker for outdoor enthusiasts.
